7 Best Wilson Racquets for Beginners
If you’re looking for Wilson’s racket to start playing Tennis, you came to the right place, I’ve done a thorough search of the models of that brand and selected only the best ones for beginners.
This list I made for people who are starting to learn Tennis and who want to evolve using the best racket in terms of quality, a racket that’s going to make easy for you to grow on the sport.
Just like you, a few years ago I was thinking what kind of racket to buy to learn how to play tennis (I started playing when I was an adult), now that I have years of experience and consider myself an intermediate-level tennis player, I can share my knowledge and research with other beginners.
There are some cheaper rackets that are good for beginners who play only on weekends or casually, but for those who want to really learn the techniques, it is better to invest in a better-quality racket that you will not need to trade for a good time.
Before choosing a racket model, I chose a brand, after all, the best-known brands always make good rackets and it is a personal preference of each to choose your favorite, so I made this list for those who chose to buy a Wilson racket.
In the case you want to choose a Babolat racket, you can click here to read about 3 good racket models for beginners, and here in this Post you find my list of best Yonex for beginners. I also made a comparison between Prince and Wilson rackets here.
This is my list of the best 7 Wilson’s rackets for beginners (click in the name to see more about the racket):
- Wilson Clash 100
- Wilson Clash 108
- Wilson Ultra 100
- Wilson Ultra 108
- Wilson Burn 100
- Wilson Burn 100S
- Wilson Blade 104
Important: You beginner player have to pay attention to the grip size of your first racket, every model has different sizes you can choose from, here in this Post I talk more about the grip size.
1 – Wilson Clash 100
Of all Wilson’s rackets, the Clash 100 is the best for beginners who want to learn properly how to play Tennis because there is no other with specifications and technology like that.
It’s important that a beginner racket is easy to use and doesn’t require much technique to generate power, the Wilson Clash 100 guarantees that and even more, it’s also much more comfortable than the beginner’s rackets of other lines and even of the other brands.
Best of all, this racket adapts to the tennis player and his style, no matter what kind of tennis player you are or wants to be, this racket will adapt very well.
The Wilson Clash 100 is definitely the best choice for beginners who want a Wilson racket, but more for those who want to improve and do not plan to switch rackets even after evolving to the intermediate level in the sport.
If you are curious to know the difference between beginner and intermediate Tennis rackets, click here to open in another tab my article about it.
The number 100 in front of the name is the size of the head, this size is perfect since it is not excessively large or too small, it is more likely that various types of people can use this racket.
In the Pro circuit is more common to find more rackets with 100 head size on the hands of female players, you can find more about that in this Post here.
2 – Wilson Clash 108
The Wilson Clash 108 is ideal for seniors and juniors, the 108 corresponds to the size of its head, a size that makes it easier to generate power.
This racket comes with all the unique technology of the Clash line that makes it flexible and at the same time firm when needed, giving the player comfort and power.
This model is not as flexible as the Wilson Clash 100, but I researched that in practice those who use it do not feel it is less comfortable.
The control of this racket is usually better than that found on rackets of the same size.
The size 108 gives a bigger sweet spot and it is much easier to hit the ball well even for beginners who have not yet learned the correct technique, besides giving a lot of spin that is great so that your ball does not leave the court or stop in the net.
3 – Wilson Ultra 100
If you ask me what is one of the best rackets for a beginner independent of the brand, I would say it is the Babolat Pure Drive, because this racket is so good for a big range of tennis players, even the beginners can play well with the Pure Drive.
The Wilson Ultra 100 is like the Babolat Pure Drive, is a very powerful racket that help’s the beginner’s tennis players to put the ball deep on the court without knowing the proper technique.
The stiffness of the Ultra 100 is high, that means it can bother people who have some arm issues, if that’s you case, is better to choose the Wilson Clash.
This racket is also very easy to swing, it is a great option for you who want to play mostly on the baseline, is ideal for people who wants to play on the weekends and don’t care much about playing on the net.
4 – Wilson Ultra 108
I already told you that the Wilson Ultra 100 is similar to the Babolat Pure Drive and now I’m going to say that the Wilson Ultra 108 is similar to rackets like the Wilson Hammer line.
Like the rackets from the Hammer line of Wilson, the Wilson Ultra 108 is a lightweight racket with more weight towards the head, giving you a lot of power and the big head makes it easy to make contact to the ball.
In my search for the best rackets for beginners, I notice a lot of lists on the internet with Wilson’s Hammer rackets, but I know that if you want to begin in Tennis and evolve from beginner to the intermediate level, you will need a racket with a better material.
Although the Hammer line of Wilson has cheaper rackets, those aren’t going to last for too long as the top racket lines.
If you would like to begin in Tennis playing in doubles or if you like the idea of serve and volley, the Wilson Ultra 108 is the best option for a racket of Wilson brand.
5 – Wilson Burn 100
The Wilson Burn 100 fits the ideal profile for an adult beginner racket, best cost benefit, it is lightweight, easy to use and helps generate a lot of power in your moves.
It is a racket that gives you firmness in the strokes and that helps you hit the ball easily. Not necessary the best for advanced players, you will probably be going to change to other models when you evolve from beginner to advanced.
You can see here in this Post that most Pro Tennis players uses heavier rackets. If you are curious to know the average weight of pros Tennis rackets, click here to read my research about it.
A great attraction of the Wilson Burn is the price, it is much cheaper than the others on this list and this counts a lot for those who are starting in the sport and are not sure if you will stay practicing it for many more years.
If you have any physical problems on your arm, it would be best to choose a more flexible racket like the Wilson Clash 100.
6 – Wilson Burn 100S
Just like the Burn 100, the Wilson Burn 100S has a great price, the “S” means spin, it has a little less swingweight and a little more stiffness compared to the Burn 100.
If you have any arms issues, is best to stay away from this racket, on my research I noticed some people said that this racket doesn’t feel uncomfortable, but the high stiff level can cause you problems later on.
The Wilson Burn 100S gives you much more power and spin than the Burn 100 and even a little more control, because the string pattern is different, in fact, that’s one of the few differences between it and the Burn 100.
This racket shines on groundstrokes, if you are a beginner that want to stay behind the baseline and needs power and spin, maybe the Wilson Burn 100S is the perfect racket for you.
7 – Wilson Blade 104
Wilson’s Blade line isn’t aimed at beginners, but it has a model of it that can work very well for those starting now, is the Wilson Blade 104.
The Wilson Blade 104 is very lightweight, has a larger head to give more power and a bigger sweetspot, the easiest Blade to use.
A versatile racket that has a larger size than the others on this list, so it behaves a little differently to your specifications.
If you’re a beginner who wants a little more control, spin and a racket that helps you hit the ball more easily, blade 104 is the ideal choice.
I bought a racket based on a tennis player that I admire a lot and if you also have a tennis player you admire and wants to use a similar racket look, chances are great that he or she is using a Blade and it’s pretty cool to be able to use the same paint job.
I’ve made a list about the Tennis rackets Pro players use and or endorse, click here for ATP (men’s players) and click here to WTA (woman players).
